LEAENA, Jerez

Bodegas Viuda de Manjón, established in 1846 by Leona Mergelina y Gómez de Barreda in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, has a rich history in sherry production. After her husband's death in 1865, the winery was renamed Viuda de Manjón, under which Leona expanded its reach, exporting wines to destinations like Cuba, Argentina, and England.

In 2021, the fifth-generation descendant, Ana León Domecq Manjón, revitalized the family legacy by introducing the Leona brand. This collection offers a curated selection of sherries, including Manzanilla, Fino, Amontillado, Palo Cortado, Oloroso, and Cream, sourced from esteemed bodegas in the Marco de Jerez region.

Notably, the brand is now expanding into the U.S. market under the name LEAENA, which means "lion" in Latin—a tribute to the pioneering spirit of its founder, Leona. This move aims to introduce the winery's exceptional sherries to a wider audience, continuing the legacy of quality and innovation.

The Leona Cream sherry, for instance, is a harmonious blend of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez wines, aged for approximately nine years. This sherry presents rich notes of toffee, hazelnuts, and dried fruits, offering a balanced sweetness suitable for pairing with desserts or enjoyed over ice.

Bodegas Viuda de Manjón continues to honor its storied past while embracing modern winemaking techniques, ensuring the enduring legacy of its distinguished sherries.
