Casar de Vide
Galicia is now a marquee name for high quality white wines and Ribeiro is at the heart of the history of this prestigious region in NW Spain, in the "Green Spain". A trip through this land in Spain immediately catches you with the rugged terrain, green scenery, and the grandiosity of the Mino river among a few of the highlights of this land. However, while Ribeiro may be the oldest appelation in Galicia and one of the oldest in Spain, the history of this small producer is now tied to that of Carlos Moro from Bodegas Matarromera in Ribera del Duero. Therefore, we need to make a small parenthesis and talk a bit about Matarromera. This producer is now a jauggernaut in the wine industry in Spain. Rather than sleeping in their laurels, Matarromera, has expanded beyond their frontier and this is one of their newest projects.
Ribeiro, like most appelations is Galicia is made up of small "adegas" (producers), and Casar de Vide is no exception. Carlos Moro comes into this region not to impose his size with small producers, but rather adhere to the customs of the area, but add value from which the whole area will benefit from.
We are very proud to represent this small producer in our area and we hope that you will be marvelled by what this area of Spain can produce using native grapes like Treixadura, Albarino, Godello, Torrontes, among others.
