Appellation: Russian River

This is the first vintage of the new producer who rescued an old vineyard (over 80 yearsold) of Zinfandel with some Syrah planted later on.  This first vintage was made up of only 78 cases and we are holding approximately 20 of them.  The wine is rich and big, like a good California wine, but you can tell there is restrain with the goal to produce a lighter, fresher wine.  The wine is elegant and shows a wide variety of berries very characteristic of the varietal.  There is a little bit of Syrah in the blend so there are some floral and peppery notes along with some other spices like licorice and rosemary. This wine made us believe in California again and we are looking forward to getting our hands on the new vintage.  Stay tuned.
